Denise MC Lee

Senior Associate

Denise MC Lee is an architectural design associate at SITE. Through a ten-plus years of interdisciplinary design experience, her collaborative range goes considerably beyond the normal practice of architects and building science engineers, for example, her experience includes working with aerospace engineers and software programmers. Within the current climate of digital media in design studio, she focuses on the interaction between the design/thought process [cognitive tool] and both digital/analog medium [physical tools] as well as the application of architectural concepts to building science environments. Her research and design interests revolve around art, social, cultural, sustainable and technological advances and the emerging digital discourses in architecture and design fields.

Denise Lee graduated with a Bachelor of Planning and Design and Bachelor of Building from University of Melbourne, Australia. She worked extensively in the past ten-plus years in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Australia. Denise Lee has been with SITE on various levels of project responsibility since 1992. Recently working as Project Designer and Coordinator on a variety of architecture, public space, urban and master planning projects, including such recent projects as The new World Trade Center site proposal, New York, New York; The USA Pavilion for EXPO 2000, Hannover, Germany; The Museum of Islamic Arts, Doha, Qatar; The Saudi Arabian National Museum, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; The Töölönlahti Park, Helsinki, Finland; AQUATORIUM, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Inner Harbor Link, Baltimore, Maryland; Rossini Foundation Sculpture Park, Briosco, Italy; Annmarie Garden Sculpture Park, Solomons, Maryland. She is also the designer-in-charge for the furniture and products such as the Terra Series for Saporiti Italia and the Finger Print Series for Acme Studios.

In addition to her responsibilities at SITE, Denise Lee has been a guest critic at Chinese University in Hong Kong, Tulane University, Pratt Institute, Fashion Institute of Technology, and Penn State University. Also, she has lectured and participated in symposia at various professional conferences in Europe. Most recently she was the keynote speaker at the "Sensazioni e Bennessere" Bioarchitettura Conference in Como, Italy. Her work in collaboration with SITE has been exhibited in National Building Museum, Denver Art Museum, Venice Architetura Biennale, Musée des Beaux-Arts D'Orléans.

Denise Lee lives and works in New York City and frequently travels abroad for projects and lectures.
